Mr. Ghulam Qadir Shah is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in environmental management, forestry, and sustainable development, holding advanced degrees in Environmental Management & Development and Forestry. He has worked extensively with government and international organizations, including serving as Inspector General of Forests in Pakistan's Ministry of Climate Change. In this role, he acted as Chief Technical Advisor and National Focal Point for multilateral agreements on forestry, biodiversity, REDD+, and land degradation.
Mr. Shah successfully led Pakistan's REDD+ Readiness Project with World Bank support, ensuring compliance with international readiness requirements. He also served as National Coordinator for the Mangroves for the Future (MFF) Programme, contributing to the designation of Astola Island as Pakistan's first Marine Protected Area. His expertise spans policy formulation, natural resource management, forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, and participatory mangrove rehabilitation. Throughout his career, Mr. Shah collaborated with organizations such as IUCN, WWF Pakistan, and UNDP on regional and national initiatives funded by global institutions like the World Bank and UN agencies.
