The international conference was well received by public and policy circles in the Pakistani capital Islamabad and more than 475 experts, diplomats, policy makers, civil society activists, faculty members, media persons and students took part in its proceedings.
The aim of the conference was to look at alternatives to the present turbulent but apparently deadlocked security scenario in the region. The first day was dedicated to the internal situation in Pakistan. The second day looked at the country from regional and international perspectives. A short movie developed by HBS entitled “Kahani Wali Game” (Game of Stories) and a book by Prof. Dr. Yunas Samad, both thematically relevant, were also screened and launched during the conference.
By identifying seven most pressing issues, the conference participants were also able to adopt a 17-point resolution to secure the frontline state Pakistan. The agreed resolution would serve as a benchmark to gauge success/failure for achieving human security in Pakistan.
